Work with us: careers in home care

We're interested in hearing from nurses, caregivers and other professionals who want to support people in their own homes, and who take both kindness and clinical boundaries seriously.

A separate route for job seekers

This page is for people who would like to work with Sehlam Home Care. If you're looking for care for yourself or a relative, please use the care assessment request instead, so your request reaches the right team.

We don't advertise individual vacancies on this page. Instead, you can register your interest, and we'll contact you when there's a role that matches your experience and where you're based.

Who we'd like to hear from

  • Registered nurses, for nursing tasks such as giving medicines and injections, wound care, catheter and stoma care, and overseeing care plans.
  • Nurse assistants and enrolled nurses, working within their scope of practice.
  • Caregivers and care assistants, for personal care, companionship, household support and live-in placements.
  • Doctors, who support clients' care alongside their own medical teams.
  • Other health professionals, where their skills support people living at home.
  • Office and care coordination staff, who plan schedules, match caregivers and keep families informed.

The work covers both visiting care and live-in care. When you register, tell us which suits you.

What we look for

Skills can be taught; some things matter from the start:

  • Respect. You treat the person as an adult with their own preferences, and their home as their home, not your workplace.
  • Reliability. Families plan their lives around care. Turning up as agreed, and telling us early if you can't, is part of the job.
  • Clinical boundaries. You know what is and isn't within your role, and you speak up when something needs a nurse or a doctor.
  • Honest record-keeping. You write down what happened, not what should have happened.
  • Patience. You let people do what they can for themselves, at their pace.

Eligibility

In general, you'll need:

  • the right to work in Ghana;
  • training or experience relevant to the role;
  • for regulated roles, a current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or the Medical and Dental Council, as applicable to your profession;
  • the ability to talk clearly with clients and families in English, including relatives who call from abroad; other languages spoken in Ghana are very welcome, because many clients are more comfortable in their own language.

Requirements for particular roles are discussed with you before any offer.

Documents and checks, later and securely

People trust us with their homes and their health, so we check carefully before anyone works with a client. If we invite you to the next stage, we'll ask for:

  • proof of identity;
  • qualifications and training certificates;
  • professional registration for regulated roles, which we verify with the regulator ourselves;
  • references from previous employers;
  • a police criminal record check;
  • a medical fitness report.

Please don't send any of these with your first form, or by email. We collect them later through a secure onboarding process, with only the people who need to see them having access. The first step asks only for your contact details and a short summary of your experience.

How we review your interest

  1. You send a short form with your contact details, the role you're interested in, where you're based and your experience.
  2. We review your details against the roles and areas we're recruiting for.
  3. If there's a match, we contact you to arrange a conversation.
  4. Next steps may include an interview, a practical assessment and the document checks above.
  5. Before any placement, you'll be introduced to the care plan and the person you'll support.

We can't reply individually to everyone straight away. We keep your details only for the period described in our privacy notice.

Questions

If you have a question about working with us, ask it in the note on the expression of interest form. Please keep it brief and don't include ID numbers, licence numbers or health information.
